Welcome to those who are looking at starting a business in West Central Texas. There are many economic development partners that work together to help make your new business a reality. Our goal is to help provide information or direct you to resources that will provide the information you need.  Some of the resources you can expect are basics of starting a business, the business plan, the loan proposal, financing opportunities for your business,  knowing  what permits, regulations, and licenses are needed, just to name a few.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Angelo State University offers free services in such areas as:

  • developing a loan proposal and business plan
  • market research and analysis
  • managing employees
  • financing opportunities
  • doing business with the government.

The ASU SBDC provides on-line training courses as well as workshops and seminars on issues common to all business owners.

In addition, the ASU SBDC provides assistance on international trade issues for companies looking to expand their markets.

One of the most helpful documents the ASU SBDC provides for those wanting to start a business is the "Starting a Business in San Angelo Guide" which is provided free of charge.

The Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CVCED), The Business Incubator, helps starting businesses by providing space and shared services under one roof with the purpose of helping business grow and succeed.

The CVCED can provide mentoring through the expertise of the CVCED Board of Directors as well as small business assistance provided in-house or through referrals from many different resource partners.

Another advantage to businesses housed in the CVCED are the synergies and information sharing that take place when entrepreneurs are all working under one roof.

The Workforce Solutions for the Concho Valley can provide assistance with locating qualified employees for your business or training those you already have.  You can directly post job vacancy notices on the Work In Texas site, and also conduct a search to match job seekers to the qualifications required for your available jobs.  Workforce Solutions also sponsors job fairs that can be for all local employers or tailored for specific industries.  To request information on job fairs or other services, just submit an information request form.
